| The Albert Apartments Addresses 69-77 University Place or 42-44 East 11th Street New York, N.Y. 10003 Location East 11th Street and University Place, southeast corner Neighborhood Greenwich Village Built July 27, 1881, to Dec. 21, 1882 Use Originally a hotel (the Albert), now apartments. On the ground floor: Dean & Deluca, Supercuts, Mandoo Bar, and the Little Antique Shop. AIA Guide "Dark red brick and black-painted wrought-iron trim dinsinguish this work." Landmark Status Not landmarked — This building looks like a big red velvet cake with some vanilla icing. The top floor addition hides nicely behind Hardenbergh's gabled parapet. One wishes the rooftop addition to 67 West 73rd Street had been done this well.
