Great Architects of New York: Henry J. Hardenbergh
Moss Mansion
914 Division Street
Billings, Mont. 59101
Division Street between Yellowstone Avenue and Clark Avenue, west side.

This house, built for Preston Boyd Moss and Martha Ursula (Mattie) Moss, has been carefully preserved as a museum where visitors can see a slice of turn-of-the-20th-century life in Montana. The sturdy building exterior features brown rusticated stone. And how about that roof?

Thanks to James Oset for photographing the building and Bob Sheridan for making the arrangements.
